DUNGEON Magazine
DRAGON Magazine
title: Illustrator I discovered D&D at a pretty young age. Some of my favorite books
as a kid were the Monster Manual and Fiend Folio, which collected loads
and loads of monsters from various myth and legend. I ignored the technical
stats and mostly focused on the drawings. When I got a little bit older,
and actually started playing D&D, I was hooked. I thought it was a really
cool and original game, and it provoked a lot of imaginative artwork for
years to come. Naturally I was excited when the oppurtunity to do some illustrations
for the game arose. Two of the flagship magazines, DRAGON and DUNGEON, had
need for illustrators, and through a chance COMIC-CON encounter, I was able
to jump onboard. I illustrated numerous articles on and off over the next
couple years.... here's a sampling
Footnote:
Also during this time I did a bunch of fantasy theme paintings to try to
get work illustrating for MAGIC: The Gathering (a D&Dish card game).
They never hired me, but you can see the fruits of that spec work in the
Mythos section of this site...
